Snowmobile Safari to the Arctic Sea and Norwegian Fjords (8 Days). 2008-2009

Departures on Saturdays, first possible departure 7.2.2009. Guaranteed departures: 14.2, 21.2, 7.3, 21.3. For the other departures minimum 4 persons/departure.

1st Day - Arrival (Saturday)

Transfer from the Ivalo airport to the Hotel. Check in and dinner.

2nd Day - Direction Nord

After the breakfast meeting with the guide, delivery of thermal clothes, check-out, briefing about the safari program and departure to the snowmobile safari. At first we drive on ice and along legendary Lake Inari. We have lunch on one of Lake Inari’s numerous islands. Our safari proceeds through the magical arctic landscape of forest and fells until we come to Näätämö where we overnight in original local Holiday Village. 
We go to relaxing sauna. We enjoy dinner.
Driving about 130-145 km.

3rd Day - To Norway, Arctic Ocean

In the morning after breakfast we continue our snowmobile safari to Norway and drive in very variable landscape until we reach the open Arctic Ocean by one of numerous Norway fjord. Sometimes the weather/snow conditions in Norway can be very difficult, so the guide will decide the route. We enjoy lunch during the day in Norway. In the afternoon we are back in Finland and same Holiday Village where we overnight. Sauna and dinner. Driving about 90 – 130 km (depending on the weather and the snow situation). Guide will see the snow/ice situation in Norway and decide the route in Norway according weather conditions.

4th Day - Näätämö - Nuorgam

After good sleep and breakfast we start driving towards the northernmost village in European Union, Nuorgam, through the wilderness areas. We drive through the forests and over the lakes. 
Lunch in wilderness by open fire or in wilderness cabin depending on weather. We arrive in the afternoon to Nuorgam Holiday Village where we overnight. Overnight in holiday village cabins.
Sauna and dinner. Driving about 90-110 km.

5th Day - Day on Mountains in Norway

After good breakfast we take off and drive to Norwegian mountains. Landscape is very nice real TUNDRA with small trees or only white snowy areas. During the day we enjoy lunch in Norway. 
After lunch we drive back towards Finland and in the afternoon we arrive to Utsjoki where we overnight in local small cosy hotel. Sauna and dinner. Driving about 110-140 km, depending on weather /snow circumstances. Guide will see the snow/ice situation in Norway and decide the route in Norway according weather conditions.

6th Day - Utsjoki - Kaamanen

After breakfast we take direction South. We drive over fells, through the forest and over the lakes in variable landscape. During the day we prepare picnic lunch with our guide in wilderness cabin. Sometimes in this area we can see big herds of reindeers. We arrive to Kaamanen Holiday Village in the afternoon and have sauna and dinner. Overnight in holiday village apartments.
Driving about 100 – 120 km.

7th Day - Back to Ivalo with a bit of culture

Breakfast. We drive today first to Lapp village Inari which is situated by the famous Lake Inari.
In Inari we will visit the Siida Museum. The museum has received many international awards. We will see the original way of living of Same people and lot of beautiful pictures from Lapp wilderness (for example flora, fauna, six seasons of Lapland...). We enjoy lunch in museums main restaurant. After the lunch we head towards Ivalo and drive over the Lake Inari and along the River Ivalo until early in the afternoon we are back in Ivalo and warm sauna is waiting us. Check-in.
Dinner and Safari Diploms. Overnight in hotel.
Driving about 90-110 km.

8th Day - Departure (Saturday)

Breakfast. Transfer to Ivalo airport.
